Trial Technology

The RCTS team works with the trial team to deploy dynamic presentation techniques so that evidence and argument is delivered with clarity, impact, and persuasiveness. No experience with technology is required when our trial technicians are on your team. Our professionals serve as invaluable liaisons between attorney and technology, providing support throughout the trial preparation process and 24/7 in trial.

Trial Technicians

A trial technician, also referred to as a “hot seat operator,” is a specialized member of a legal team responsible for managing and presenting electronic evidence during courtroom proceedings. They operate behind the scenes to ensure a seamless display of exhibits, video depositions, demonstratives, and other digital materials in real time. Trial technicians not only ensure technical reliability but also contribute to the overall presentation strategy—helping legal teams deliver clearer, more persuasive arguments in high-stakes environments.

Courtroom Technology

Trial technicians rely on a blend of equipment and hardware to ensure evidence is presented clearly, efficiently, and without interruption in the courtroom. This includes laptops configured with trial presentation software, high-powered graphics systems, video switchers, backup drives, and audio interfaces that allow for fast and reliable retrieval of exhibits, video depositions, and demonstratives. They also bring cables, adapters, signal boosters, and connection tools to support a wide range of display devices—including projectors, televisions, touchscreen monitors, confidence monitors, and jury-facing screens.

Depo Syncing & Editing

Deposition syncing and editing is the process of aligning a witness’s video deposition with the written transcript so that the audio and text move together in perfect synchronization. This creates a powerful, trial-ready format where every spoken word is matched to its corresponding line in the transcript, allowing attorneys and trial technicians to quickly search for key statements, jump to specific moments, and create clean, precise video clips for use in court. Syncing transforms raw deposition footage into an interactive tool that is far more efficient and effective than reviewing video or transcripts separately.

War Rooms

War rooms for trial teams are dedicated off-site or near-courthouse spaces where attorneys, paralegals, trial technicians, and consultants gather to prepare, strategize, and coordinate throughout the duration of a trial. These workspaces function as the central hub for case operations, often equipped with computers, printers, whiteboards, and secure networks to manage documents, review exhibits, and collaborate in real time. War rooms offer a private environment where the team can work efficiently, hold meetings, and adjust strategies outside the public eye of the courtroom.

Remote Witnesses

Remote witness live presentation is the process of bringing a witness into the courtroom virtually—typically through secure video conferencing platforms—when they cannot be physically present to testify. This allows the witness to appear live before the judge and jury, respond to questions in real time, and be cross-examined just as they would be in person. Remote testimony has become increasingly common due to scheduling conflicts, travel limitations, medical issues, and expanded courtroom technology. When done properly, it preserves the immediacy and authenticity of live testimony while offering flexibility to both legal teams and witnesses.
